Development Summer Intensive Certificate Program

This workshop will be IN PERSON at MTM College, 2944 Danforth Avenue! For ages 15+. Nude models will be present.

Upon registration, please submit 3 – 10 current portfolio pieces in a .jpeg format not exceeding more than 1200 x 1200 pixels in size to workshops@maxthemutt.com. “This was an incredible 6 weeks, all the effort and work I put in was given back by the instructors. The small class size meant a lot of one on one support and our individual interests were able to be focused on,” shared a student from the 2020 Certificate program.

Students who sign up before June 20th will be exempt from paying tuition fees on their portfolio review as well as provide an additional Life Drawing workshop online or in-person free of charge.

This 6-week full-time course offers classes with top professionals and includes figurative drawing, perspective, still life drawing, basic design & composition, and colour theory. With successful completion of this program, you will have fulfilled the “general” portfolio requirements for Max the Mutt College’s diploma programs.

The Certificate Program is designed for people who want to develop basic skills in the hope of applying to colleges or universities for art-based programs. However, it is open to anyone who is serious about developing skills.

The Certificate Program includes:

Figurative Life Drawing: 60 hours of instruction

Perspective & Structural Drawing: 30 hours of instruction

Principles of Drawing: 60 hours of instruction

Design & Composition, Colour Theory & Intro to Painting:  30 hours of instruction

Total program: 180 hours of instruction

This program includes a personal review meeting with each instructor, and a final, private full review of all work to assist you in making portfolio choices.

PASS requirements:

In addition to evidence that you have been able to absorb information and produce PASS-level work, you must also receive a PASS grade in Professionalism. This includes attendance, arriving with the right materials, getting to class and back from breaks on time, ability to take direction, focus & concentration, and respect for the college and all students and personnel.

Successful completion of the Fine Art Portfolio Development Certificate Program fulfills the “general” portfolio requirements for application to Max the Mutt Diploma Programs and also fulfills the character reference requirement.

All students who get a PASS in all parts of the program will receive a certificate.

Please note materials are not included in the class cost. Students will be given a material list prior to the start of the class.
