Student Housing Information for Max the Mutt Students

For students who are not familiar with the Toronto or the Toronto rental market, Max the Mutt offers to assist in finding roommates or housing for the school year.

The Toronto real estate market is presently quite expensive, so a student looking for a 1-bedroom apartment should be looking at budgeting a minimum of $800 per month. If you are willing to take on roommates, a rent budget of $350-$500 each month should be sufficient.

Always use caution when searching for an apartment, as fraud can happen. Do not make any payments prior to seeing the apartment and signing a rental agreement. Always ask questions about pest infestations, broken appliances, water pressure, tenant obligations, etc. when viewing apartments.  It is also worthwhile to familiarize yourself with the legal obligations of tenants and landlords in Ontario prior to renting; this link (ontariotenants.ca) contains some useful information.
