Tina Seemann joined Kent Burles and Illustration for Sequential Arts students and graduates for a visit from children’s book artist and author Mireille Messier.
“On Thursday November 26th, we had children’s book author Mireille Messier visit and address the senior SA students. Mireille Messier has authored about a dozen children’s books, most of them in French. Just recently, she had her first English book entitled “The Branch” published.
The story was about a girl who has a favorite tree branch to sit on. An excellent ice storm happens and the branch breaks off the tree. With the help of a clever neighbour the branch is repurposed and the child is happy again.
M. discussed the whole process, from initial idea to reading the final manuscript which changed quite a bit from her original version.
She gave a lot of useful advice, notably “Don’t give up!”
Grads attended too. It was nice to catch up with them and to find out how they are all doing and what projects they are currently working on!”
