Juneau completed her 2nd year of the Illustration for Sequential Arts program

Bio

Juneau MacPhee is from Dawson City, Yukon Territory. She has been interested in the arts all of her life, but only began cultivating a rigorous artistic practice in 2013.

Juneau believes in the artistic potential of the comic medium. Comics are the perfect vehicle for her ideas. She chose to study at Max the Mutt because it was the only school that really offered explicit training in Illustration for Sequential Arts: for Comics and Graphic Novels, while focusing on upholding a higher standard of academic drawing. Other comic schools tend to focus more on narrative elements rather than traditional form. The student work from past generations at Max speaks for itself. Standing heads and shoulders above work from other institutions.

After finishing school Juneau hopes to publish and export her personal work to the continental European market. They are the cultural epicenter of the comic book world and could stand to have more Canadian stories circulating. In five years Juneau hopes to have grown that much more as a graphic novelist, while enriching the lives of my readership.
