Lorne Butler is from Toronto, Ontario Canada. He has been interested in art for as long as he can remember. Where he liked using art and creativity as a way to connect. It has the capabilities of unifying people regardless of where you come from or what you believe in. Art has an universal way to invite somebody in and share an experience.
Lorne’s passion for Concept Art was born out of his love for storytelling. The possibility of new worlds and characters has been endlessly inspiring to him. Being able to contribute to the creation of those realities is a processes of which he will never tire.
When Lorne was in high school he was looking for classes in the city to strengthen his Life Drawing abilities. He found that Max the Mutt offered summer workshops for Life Drawing, among many others. Then after perusing the College’s halls and admiring the student work, he knew this was the school he wanted to attend.
Lorne said that his main goal after school is to first pat himself on the back for completing the program!
Then, in all seriousness, he plans to travel and continue his studies as there is always more to learn. Ultimately, he sees himself working in the video game industry. He has always been drawn to the interactivity of the gaming medium. Though he said that he genuinely would be happy to work anywhere, as he doesn’t want to limit himself. Everything has something to offer!
This summer Lorne has been working as an Intern at Spin Master, the global toy and entertainment company, where he has been working under Alexandra Kavalova (The Director of Visual Development). There he has been assisting Alexandra in paint overs, and original concepts for upcoming kids television shows.
