Rachel Simon is born and raised Canadian who has always been interested in art. Rachel had this to say about what inspired her to study Classical & Computer Animation & Production and why she chose to attend Max the Mutt:
“I can’t remember a time I didn’t have a pencil in my hand – and if you believe my parents stories, a time where I wasn’t also tasting the art supplies.
I decided to study animation when an accident forced me to reevaluate my career path, but in doing so I discovered something even better than my original ambitions. With animation, I can mix everything I love together. I can be the artist, story teller, and actor behind the scenes. My never dying love for animated movies just helped push me further and soon I found that this was everything I’d ever wanted in one package.
I chose Max the Mutt for a lot of reasons but mainly for the curriculum. The fact that I can focus solely on the craft and am not forced to take mandated classes that won’t help me at all was a huge incentive. I first met Maxine Schacker and Tina Seemann at a job fair at my high school, and after seeing what MTM had to offer – I was hooked.
My goal is to work in feature. All I want to do is animate and get a chance to put my mark on big projects. Animation got me through so much in life, and I want to be able to deliver the same to everyone else who finds comfort in it as well.”
