“Creating Life Through Light” – Light forms the wonderful and very important base of all visual arts and understanding it can give you the strength and freedom to create the art you want to create. I will take you through the basic mechanisms of light and how they can be used to create realism in your character drawings and character paintings. We will dive into how light works with different forms, textures and colours. Additionally, we will explore how light can be used to convey emotion, character, and atmosphere in creative ways and breath life into your worlds. We will work one on one to figure out your strengths and where you feel like you struggle when it comes to lighting. I will try my best to provide tools and exercises to enhance both
This workshop is intended for anyone ages 12+
Workshop sessions will happen once a week, and be 3 hours each!
This workshop requires Internet Access and will take place via Google Hangouts/Meetings. Sessions will be recorded and provided to students. Students will be required to use their web camera or phone during the stream to share work if they would like to receive feedback or direction with their life drawing.
Please note that materials are not included in the cost of this class.
Students are not required to have all of the materials listed below.
A laptop or computer with webcam and mic
Digital drawing tools preferred, including drawing software of choice (ie. Photoshop, Corel Painter) & a drawing tablet
Pencil and paper
Water colour or acrylic paint
CHAMIL PREMATILAKE is a a concept artist, illustrator and art enthusiast. He’s been drawing and painting for most of my life. To this day, he spends a great deal of time in the analysis and admiration of the art we all consume on a daily basis, how it’s created and how he can incorporate it into his own creations. After reaching a strong place in his journey, he strives to spread what knowledge, interpretations and love he has of art to strengthen and liberate fellow artists.
