An exciting intro to the fundamentals of animation. We will be exploring techniques in 2D hand-drawn animation that can later be applied to any animation medium down the road. This intuitive 2D hand-drawn animation workshop will allow you to explore and foster your creativity.
Beginning with simple but important concepts like Timing and Spacing, Squash and stretch, animating arcs eventually culminating with a walking character.
By the end of the course students will have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of animation that they can apply to future animation courses as they continue their artistic journey.
This beginner-level 2D hand-drawn animation workshop is open to anyone 13+ with a general interest in animation or art.

This workshop requires Internet Access and will take place via Google Meetings/Hangouts. Sessions will be recorded and shared with students. Static links will be accessible at any time via a private discord channel provided to students who register.

About the Instructor
BRYCE HALLETT is a Toronto based independent animator with over 20 years of experience. He is a graduate of Classical Animation at Sheridan College, Graphic design at Canadore College and studied Film and TV production at Humber College. His freelance career spans the gamut of creating animation and motion graphics for documentaries, Tv commercials, educational films, sketch comedy, music videos and the odd video game App. In addition to animating he enjoys sharing his expertise teaching courses and workshops at various institutions including The Toronto Animated Image Society, Teletoon, Sheridan College, Seneca College and OCAD University.
He is the illustrator of the book “ Animation Unleashed: 100 Principles Every Animator, Comic Book Writer, Filmmaker, Video Artist and Game Developer Should Know”, written by Ellen Besen. Currently they are working on the second edition expected out some time next year.
