AGES: 13+. Beginners Welcome. MTM Student-led course.
World Building is an exciting frontier of story development! Whether for video games, movies, television shows, table top games, written stories, comics or personal projects, creating your own fantastical world is often an incredible experience to get you thinking creatively and cooperatively. World Building will teach you to think outside the box and give you the flexibility and freedom to have fun creating your own story and universe.
In this workshop you will be introduced to concept art and it’s applications, the diversity of world building and how to develop your own characters, props, vehicles, environments and more. These concepts will be combined with your classmates’ to create a cohesive world that will be sure to encourage continued creativity and inspiration. Teamwork and originality is strongly encouraged.
This workshop takes place over eight weeks, every Thursday night from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM EST, starting March 11 and going until April 29th.
Please note materials are not included in the cost of this workshop. These materials should be purchased after we have sent out a confirmation email that this class will be running.
This workshop requires Internet Access and will take place via Google Meetings / Hangouts. Students have the freedom to work digitally or traditionally! Sessions will be recorded and shared with students.
This workshop is designed for communication and teamwork so a web camera and microphone is strongly recommended! (Mobile devices can be used to log in to these online classrooms as well.)
Traditional Mediums are welcome, though a computer and drawing tablet with a digital drawing software of the users preference is preferred. If you are working traditionally, please be aware you will be expected to scan or photograph your artwork to share with the class.
About the Instructor
SERGI IRANZO is a Concept Design Student here at Max the Mutt with a background in science and fine arts. Sergi has worked with companies such as FORREC and freelances on the side. While still quite early into his career, Sergi is fluent with programs such as Modo, Photoshop, and SketchUp and has a formidable portfolio available through his Artstation and Instagram.
