Learn to Draw: Top-Rated Drawing Class in Toronto!

The Summer Learn to Draw: Portfolio Development workshop is a great introduction to the fundamentals of representational drawing. If you are planning to apply to arts programs, this is a “must” and an opportunity to build your portfolio. It’s also a great opportunity for anyone looking to generally improve their life drawing abilities (beginner level), upgrade their skills (intermediate level), or as a refresher for those working in creative industries (professional level).

This class constitutes eight FULL days of instruction, with individualized feedback, advice, and guidance on everything you do.

Life Drawing

Life Drawing is an important building block for all arts-based careers. It’s also an essential skill for any artist to develop, not to mention a great source of relaxation and stress relief. This Life Drawing course follows the teaching methods of the celebrated Kimon Nicolaides amongst other talented artists and is designed to allow anyone to improve their technique and is recommended by prominent studios like Disney and Warner Brothers. You’ll be amazed by your progress as you follow a series of exercises designed to get the artist to use touch, empathy and the kinesthetic sense to capture the human form. Materials used include pencil, ink, charcoal, and Conte crayon.

Please note that nude models will be used for this class.

Basic Composition, Freehand & Constructive Drawing and Perspective

Students will begin with an exploration of 2-dimensional design and how it relates to drawing, then move on to perspective and structural drawing of 3-dimensional shapes and environments, first simple and then more complex. Constructive drawing of simple organic shapes and how this relates to structural drawing will be touched on as well. Learn all the necessary fundamentals of representational drawing.
